Social Media Spotlight The Intelligist Group
Today’s social media spotlight proudly presents The Intelligist Group. The Intelligist Group is a team of innovative strategists that helps companies get through blockages and find new opportunities for growth. The Intelligist Group differs from typical management consulting firms in that the strategies they implement for businesses are not template-driven. Instead, they help businesses find a unique value proposition and tell them how to leverage it. The Intelligist Group has worked within all different types of industries, including entertainment, Financial Services, NGO, non-profit, energy, manufacturing, and publishing. Alan Berkson, founder of the Intelligist Group, informed us that he likes to work with new businesses because he loves learning about new industries. Here’s what Alan had to say about how he uses social media for marketing his company…
What social media platforms do you currently use?
A: Twitter, LinkedIn, and blogging, which I consider to be the Holy Trinity of social media.
What value, if any, has social media provided for your business?
A: Social media is my primary marketing and PR vehicle, besides seminars.
I’m a small business, so I live with my own thoughts, unlike larger corporations who can bounce ideas off of other employees. Social media is the way I can collaborate and connect with other people beyond my four-person office. It’s a way to bring new ideas into my business. I like to think of it as cross-pollination.
Which social media platform works best for your business?
A: Twitter works best because it’s the platform I spend the most time on, and the one that I have gotten the most business from.

How has social media impacted your business in terms of marketing and sales?
A: I get more than 50% of my business through social media as opposed to traditional networking. In the consulting business, you are not getting direct sales through social media, but rather lead generations and a place for brand building. Social media is the ultimate inbound marketing for my business.
Do you have any advice for companies who are on the fence about social media?
A: Every business has a story to tell. Social media allows you to tell your story to a much broader audience than you would normally be able to reach through traditional media. It also allows you to interact with your customers and potential customers more than traditional media.. Social media marketing creates a higher level of engagement, which is something most businesses want.
Is there any social media strategy that you would like to improve or do differently?
A: I would like to add my social media networks to my website in order to integrate inbound marketing and further build my brand community.
Alan knows exactly what he’s speaking about when it comes to the topic of social media. He understands how to use all of the platforms in order to build engagement and join in on the conversation with clients or leads. He even takes it a step further and uses social media as a way to get creative ideas that he may be able to apply to his own company. The Intelligist Group is a great example of how to use social media marketing in a small business and B2B setting.
