For this week’s Social Media Spotlight, we are happy to introduce Qponista.com! Qponista is a we-commerce engine that powers daily deals. They have developed a proprietary tool that allows merchants, bloggers and media companies to work together to develop and promote their own daily deals via the Qponista platform to customers all across America. We had the opporunity to speak with Sandro Ore, Founder and Dealmaker of Qponista, and here’s what he had to say…
Which social media platforms do you currently use?
What value, if any, has social media provided for your business?
S: We use social media as a means to share our deals and to communicate with customers and clients alike.
Which social media platform works best for your business? Why?
S: We use all the platforms to broadcast our deals. For more intimate or involved conversations, we use Facebook and LinkedIn, depending on the user’s choice.
How has social media impacted your business in terms of marketing and sales?
S: We use social media as a means to connect with various stakeholders in our business. Whether customers or clients, we want to keep them engaged with our brand. We want to be relevant and offer solutions. To accomplish that, there is no better way than to connect with them in real time… and social media tools provide the means for our business to do just that!
Do you have any advice for companies who are on the fence about social media?
S: Don’t be a victim of analysis paralysis. While you’re waiting to see what happens, your competitors are out there forging relationships with customers!
Is there any social media strategy that you would like to improve or do differently?
S: A sound marketing strategy is a must for any business, and that certainly should hold true for whatever you do in social media. We often see promotional tactics being implemented without a clear objective… and that is a terrible thing to see. When a promotion fails, the marketer may sour on social media when in fact they simply implemented a poor promotion.
Remember, clearly define your objectives and then develop strategies and tactics to achieve those objectives. It’s tough to measure ROI on a ‘cool’ idea without knowing what it’s trying to achieve!
Sandro definitely gives great advice for those who are trying to use social media marketing without a sound strategy in place. All brands should define their objectives before jumping in! Additionally, it is great to see that one of Qponista’s main objectives for being a social brand is to keep in touch with their customers and clients.
