For this week’s Social Media Spotlight we are proud to introduce Handsome + Humble , a luxury line of soap and hygiene products made exclusively for men. The story in which inspired Handsome + Humble to come to fruition is both inspiring and humbling. Two young gentlemen set out on a mission to deliver an all-natural skincare line for men to the marketplace. Their goal is to educate men worldwide about the importance of knowing which ingredients are in the products that they use on a day to day basis. “We want you to feel comfortable about turning that bottle or box around and actually being able to pronounce and understand what is it that is being soaked into your skin.” We had the pleasure of sitting down with co-founder John Paul about Handsome + Humble and their plans for social media.
What social media platforms do you currently use?
J: We currently use Facebook and Twitter.
What value, if any, does social media provide to your business?
J: First and foremost, worldwide reach. We provide education through videos, education through articles, product information, and doctor recommendations. For example, one of the lines we have coming out is clinically proven to reduce wrinkles. Consumers aren’t aware of the dangers of the products they use on a daily basis Supplying information like that to our consumers will provide great value when facing a choice to buy or not.
Which social media platform works best for your business?
J: Facebook for sure. The amount of users on Facebook makes it the most influential for spreading our brand’s name.
How has social media impacted your business in terms of ROI and sales?
J: Since we are about to launch the line, there has not been a financial impact. However, just the buzz and exposure it provides is where the real value is.
What are some reasons you decided to use social media when you launch the company.
J: Social media reaches users that you ordinarily wouldn’t get to touch through TV, Radio, magazine, or other traditional marketing. You would be competing with titans in your industry. Using social media really brings it back to the old saying, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. If you have enough followers on Twitter, enough friends on Facebook, you have a realistic shot at reaching your target market.
Is there any social media strategy that you would like to improve or do differently?
J: Yes, I would like to see more people trafficking to our site due to videos and information released, to see who we are and hopefully buy at least one product in our line.
Handsome + Humble seems to have a solid grasp on social media and how to use it in collaboration with their product launch. It was a pleasure speaking with John, and we look forward to the launch of this new soap line for men in the Fall.
